Artdirected by the great Alyson Waller (alyson.waller@Sunday-times.co.uk), she explains me a bit:
"I couldnt hit the nail on the head with this one, so I asked my (gay) friend Dave what is iconic about gay men besides the multi coloured union jack. He said they all carry Jack Russell's in Brighton. What a great idea! I live in hackney and a lot of gay men have fashionable black pugs. I added the arm with a pink shirt holding a pink lead, which is rather stereotype but it had to be commercial and instantaneous to get approved. Thanks Dave and sorry if I have offended anyone with the pink."
