If you want to depict the Lord Shiva, first of all you need to lose the tie and other Wall Street Banker clothes. Then, lose the shoes and put the demon of ignorance beneath his foot. Then, realize that Obama is temporal, while Shiva is immortal.
that cheesy globe of world domination by an unworthy people, the fake paper "money" the cardboard house and the fascist US black helicopter (easily shot down) are all things that the true Lord Shiva will soon burn to ashes.

JAYDEV BRAHMBHATT:
THIS IS IN VERY POOR TASTE
ONE DOES NOT EXPECT SUCH POOR JUDGMENT FROM A MAGAZINE LIKE NEWSWEEK. NO MORE NEWSWEEK FOR ME AND MY FRIENDS

Myself:
This is shocking, stunning, scary and unforgetable all at the same time.

Dr. Krishna Kumar:
The image is ODIOUS.
It is offensive to the Hindus, fot the media nothing is sacred any more, more ugly, more offensive, more the vulgar, in media- attitude, more saleable. Western media is obssessed with sale and ugliness

Geeta:
The picture should have conveyed more, had the president was shown sporting 10 heads in addition to multiple arms.

Snider Grimmerace:
Hey he only human I see he can sing and dance.

HAF Reacts To Obama-Raja Newsweek Cover

Washington, DC (November 19, 2010) - Concerned members are contacting the Washington D.C. office of the Hindu American Foundation this week in reaction to the latest cover of Newsweek magazine. The weekly chose a cover depicting President Obama in the likeness of the Hindu God, Nataraja. Obama is shown with multiple arms balancing several policy issues while raising his left leg mimicking the cosmic dance of the Hindu deity that is considered a manifestation of Lord Shiva.

While HAF leaders drew a distinction in maintaining that they did not believe editors at Newsweek sought to offend Hindus, they did articulate concerns over the trend of caricaturing Hindu symbols and deities.

“Hinduism’s sacred images are too often appropriated in popular culture without understanding their spiritual relevance to Hindus,” said Suhag Shukla, HAF’s Managing Director and Legal Counsel. “For Hindus, the iconography gives insight into the divine realm, and each aspect of representation is replete with profound symbolism that is lost and even debased by such attempts at humor.”

The Foundation pointed out that several media sources were displaying this lack of understanding as they referred to Lord Nataraja’s image as the God of Destruction. Nataraja, as a form of Shiva, is more commonly worshipped as the Lord of Dance--a dynamic expression of the rhythm and harmony of life and is understood to represent the five activities attributed to Lord Shiva including creation, preservation, destruction, conquering of illusion, and divine grace and benevolence.

“Hindus have long wondered whether the incorporation of their sacred deities, whether in Burger King advertisements, Indiana Jones movies or this latest Newsweek cover, is a result of a gaping ignorance of Hinduism or an effort to demean their tradition as exotic,” added Jay Kansara, HAF’s Associate Director. “In an era where religious literacy is an imperative, we hope that the media will respect sacred imagery, and apply the same consideration given to Abrahamic faiths, for example.”

Lyric :
I don't think Newsweek intended to be disrespectful. However who ever okayed this cover was clearly not thinking and should apologize to the Hindu people. Why not just give Obama a crown of thorns and hang him on a cross with the caption The Republicans are Back?

Lloyd:
I dare you to depict the President as a Muslim God.

Ron:
Hey, Newsweek! Last ime I checked the president has an army of staff, advisors, ans the Senate, House, and Judiciary, to help him run the country! What an ignorant statement,"too much for one person"! It is too much for one unqualified person, to be sure!

Gorge:
Another excuse from the Obama apologists... This is a guy who has never run a 7/11 or for that matter ever held a real job. And you expect this child to have anywhere near the poise, know-how, class and real world experience3 as aGeroge Bush. You may not have liked his decisions but at least Bush was a leader - the Decider - Now we have the Derider.

amabo:
I am very offended by newsweek diplicting Obama as a God. He is not a God, he will never be a God. He is a just a man like the rest of us. To say he is a God is blasphemy. Furthermore, Newsweek does understand the meaning of Lord Shiva. They cannot be that stupid.

NK:
As an Indian American I find this cover with Obama depicted in the pose of the Hindu God, Lord Nataraja (Shiva) offensive. Newsweek has taken a Hindu symbol without understanding its meaning and trivialized it by associating Obama to it. How disgusting.

John:
Just another reason that Newsweek isn't even good for bathroom reading. I stopped all magazines from my home due to the PASTING of Obama's face on them every time I turned around. This is just the MainStream media trying to glorify once again. How disgusting can they get?

pete:
hi

Profprog:
It really must be nice for you people on here. You can blame all the worlds and US problems on one person.
None of you are responsible for anything. You all know it all and many on here say "What he thinks".
God says no one but HE knows what each man thinks or what is in each mans heart.
So for you folks who think they know what is in someone's heart...you are playing God yet you ae offended by the cover.
Peace and Happy thanksgiving to all. May God pour out his blessings on you in abundance.

jack thornton:

this is a perfect depiction of our lord of the pickpockets.........

LymanD:
Once again the Liberal press is trying to cover up the incomptence of the Obama Administration. God of All Things is BS it should say God of all the incompetence in the US It is interesting that anybody tjhat had a bad comment aout out incompentent pres was covered up by adds on the site. Get Real he is a loser.

C. Greene:
he is God of nothing.

M Heathman:
Who does Newsweek think Obama is? You really dont want to know what I think they are trying to make him out to be. He is our President and we need to pray for him. but I didn't vote for him

Alicia Deller Sanchez:
SCHOLAR, yes, I can spell; other was a typo.

Alicia Deller Sanchez:
GREAT! GLORIOUS ! NO, NOT TOO MUCH AT ALL FOR THIS MAN ! TRUELY, A GREAT SCOLAR, HUSBAND, FATHER & LEADER; HE IS THE ONE WE CAN SUPPORT! SEE: www.TruePresident.US my tribute to our president!

Birdthatch:
And he can't even dunk!

Bev:
Tactless. Thoughtless. Probably thought up as 'clever' without regard to sacredness. I would be offended if BHO were shown as a mimic of Jesus. Sadly,I feel he sees HIMSELF like these dieties.

Grrrr:
Isn't he the self anointed one? Now he wants to be a Hindu Deity too. That's too much. Think he can handle both devine responsibilities when he can't even keep the US in order?

MK:
Can Newsweek still kiss 0 ass....why one of the reasons I don't buy the 0 mag....you people at newsweek are sicking...

T.L.P.:
What a clown. Why don't they also show his multiple faces?

J. Haymaker:
How did this guy get on air force 1? We need a better scanner @ Andrews.

Michael Bradish:
Anoater failure by Newsweek to do its due diligence.

Cathy :
That's what he has a staff and a Vice President for.
He just wants to take credit for everything.

al phelan:
interesting

terry:
he looks like a fool

terry:
he looks like a fool

Cathy:
I think we have all had enough of this president. He has done NOTHING to better our economy or anything else for that matter other than for himself.. let's not forget the vacations.. Hope to never see his again!!!!

Ryan:
All that i can say it is disgusting and insensitive towards Hindus.
Why dont we put Obama, reading and consulting Koran on the cover of News week to correct the maladies of this great nation?

E. Bott:
I do not accept the view that this pose is disrepectful to Lord Shiva as Newsweek did not superimpose the president's head and hands on the Deity as was done with the Jimi Hendrix album cover: Axis Bold as Love. That was offensive (though I understand he himself did not favor it). Hyper-sensitivity can also be a fault. An historical parallel is what became of the Roman Empire when it was unwieldy? Split in two!

ashok patel:
Look where bush left the usa. He was glad to pass the buck and leave all the miseries to Obama. What is happening is the world is changing and he cannot help what is being dished out. NOT GUILTY.I bet no one has any guts to match his and achieve what he has, you fudduse.

S.F. Paterson:
Too much for the current president to handle but, not too much for a qualified individual to handle

Paula:
It certainly is too much for our president to handle.
He was not prepared to do this job, as he had no managerial experience at all. How he convinced so many people that he could lead us and make life better for everyone is a mystery to me. I only hope that people will get better informed as to the agenda he is pushing, and
vote to get this country back on track to what is once was, and hopefully will be again. He does not have the ability to do that.

jampp:
This pic reminds me of what he thinks about himself, Sad as it is. But to worry about it is crazy. I think it could be another ploy to get minds off of what is really going on with the other things on his agenda.

John:
The man is an embarassment to both America and the rest of the world. Newsweek is not much better.

Paul C:
Its only too much if the person in the Oval Office has no previous experience managing anything. The man is incompetent to be the leader of the free world and this past trip to Asia proves it. Both South Korea and China essentially told him to go sit in the corner and come out when spoken too. China’s economic saber rattling during the G20 conference cause markets to quiver. If we had a stronger more respected leader our negotiating position may have been improved. The world sees him as the empty suit he truly is and it’s about time we do as well. Hopefully the new balance in the legislative branch can keep the rest of his wrong headed agenda at bay until we can vote him out in 2012. If he is re-elected in 2012 this may be the event that the Mayans foretold that ends the current age

steve:
here

Bennie G, Williams:
I suggest the President confine his duties to those outlined in the Constitution of the United States, which he swore to uphold.

ndjordan:
While most are always focusing on the negative...Obama has achieved a lot during his presidency. As a matter of fact, more than any other president we've had. Everybody LOVES to criticize, but no one highlights his achievements. Where was all this criticism when Bush was running our country into the ground? Writing of millions of dollars in debts owed from other countries? This man screwed our country with no vaseline for 8 years, but everyone expects Obama to come in and just clean it up in less than 4 years. SMH...its not possible. I'm not saying Obama is a God, but he's trying his best. Unappreciative a** people.

Richard Lin:
Obama is already the self-anointed one. How can he be both a Christian God and a Hindu at the same time. Isn't he taking on too much?

Bill Jacobs:
He really thinks he is. His ego is enormous! It is not too much for one man, just too much for this pretender.
Newsweek should be commended for having the courage to show him as he really believes he is.

He is an embarrassment to the presidency.

Robert Hughes:
They should have also put an auto in one of his hands. He appears to be off balance & wavering, which is dead on. Also the caption should be revised to say "Why the modern presidency is too much for this person to handle."

quest:
We must be getting close to election time. Two years is not very long. The Obama programming starts now. There will be more to come I promise you. If you think the last presidential election was a Hollywood style blitz for Obama, you haven't seen anything yet. Open you eyes and see, watch, learn.

Beth:
Hilarious! Newsweek's Lord Obama, solver of all problems, turns out to be a disaster, so they blame it on the Presidency. I smell some ass covering going on.

Walter Jackson:
I am a Christian Pastor, and I am offended to think that any man, the Pope, President or any Potentate should think that it is ok to mock the God of any religion. We should respect each other's points of view and especially in religion. He is gonna lose and lose big the next time. Too bad. He should have used that Harvard education for something other than being a media superstar! So be it.

aecsbill:
Obama is far from a god.He is in bad shape with God since
he is not protecting babies from a horrible death in this world.
He will fall like all the gods of false hope.

Richard Engel:
This is repulsive taking a major religions God and making a false image of it. By the way Obama has an army of Czars so he and or liberals should not complain about too much for one man. Perhaps all he needs is ears to hear what the voter wants - Less government Less Taxes and less spending. Washington, Lincoln, FDR, Reagan and Bush all faced greater challenges and did it without an army of czars. 2 more years and we replace his lordship!!

Ron Clark:
An offensive image of a repulsive man on the cover of a trashy magazine. The Trifecta of Insult.

Rick:
I just threw up in my mouth!

Charlie A:
He'd do better without the house, the stethescope, the globe (which I assume is a symbol of globalism) and if he let Hillary take care of the dove. I wonder at the symbolism that the one thing he doesn't actually have in hand is the Blackhawk.

Peg:
Obama just tries to do too much. There is no need to cram things and ram them down people's throats without taking the time to doing things according to the Constitution.

John Wells:
There is only one God, Jesus Christ. Everything else is false pagan want-to-Be's.

John Paul Jones:
Yes, this country's First illegal-muslim-negro, will make a good Shiva. Hubba, Hubba...
Chow!

Frank Parker:
Maybe someone on Newsweek's staff is a Muslim, just like Obama is a crackpot Muslim... now starting a bunch of crap with the Hindus. This president is a total disgrace to the USA... and so is Newsweek magazine.

Kris Kringle:
Comparing Obama to a God is insulting and just because he can't hack it as President, doesn't mean someone else can't. Two more years for this guy to pretend he has a clue.

Lane Russell:
I would like to thank our Hindu friends for taking this Newsweek cover in stride, and for not indecorously calling for America's destruction or President Obama's death for his being depicted as Shiva. Our Muslim friends could certainly take a lesson from your superior example.

g. weiss:
I am so sorry that Obama
is the person trying to represent a President of any country, especially a country as wonderful as America. Americans deserve so much better.

Aaron:
Why doesn't obama try being a god of modern presidency - so that it isn't too much for him to handle? I didn't hear any of his predecessors complaining. He is nothing but a failure in every aspect - get us a REAL president please...preferably one that doesn't whine about it being too hard. Somebody call a WHAAAAAmbulance or give the poor guy a stress card.

Bill Morgan:
Well, the leftist rag finally got something right. Comrade Obama aspires to being the destroyer of our world as we know it.

Texana:
Obama is representing the Hindu god who is the destroyer of the world: fitting for Obama. Vote him out in 2012!

matthew:
or Obama is incapable?!

Kevin Gets:
Since Obama is failing unlike any President before... now the liberal media is going to try an save his black image by inferring he failed because the Presidency is too big for one man.

CaptainRamius:
The presidency may be too much for this novice, but Reagan, Clinton, Eisenhower, Roosevelt, Truman, etc... seemed to do OK

RockyS:
no its not that he is 'God of all things', or even that the Presidency is too much for one person, its Mr. Obama knows no limit to the role of government or to his limitations of power.

Charlie A:
I thought he was supposed to hover over the situation like a god. Here he's standing on one foot like a god. They need to figure out exactly what kind of god he is when they are worshipping him.

The reason that the modern presidency is too much for one person to handle is that the government is too big for the country to handle.

paul:
What do you think would happen if the made him look like Mohamed?

linda socha:
He's not a Hindu, he's a muslim!

John E Repbulic:
How True It Is !

eric:
Lord Shiva-Obama the Almighty

Dennis Bashutski:
Well, what now?

JVB:
Disgusting. If they aren't promoting him as a deity they are offering him up with excuses as to why he hasn't conquered. It's repulsive. The liberal media has lost their collective minds....and my money.

Wayne:
I find nothing humorous about this crap. Not everyone in America believes Obama the clown is even capable of being President. You really need to retract this cover!!!

joecarrsr:
Religion, regardless of the name attached is a place to start you search for your God,Higher being or whomever you think you are searching for. After you find God or who you are searching for you will know and understand why you were searching in the first place.Spirituality and understanding are the gift you receive after the search is done.Sound simple,it is and most Religions make it very complicated. The search is on an individual basis and the find is on an individual basis.God of all thing is not what you see on the cover of Newsweek, far from it but who am I to say.Think about it.

James DeRocker:
The modern presidency isn't too much for one man to handle. It's just too much for this MORON to handle.

Rita Echave:
obama knows nothing, nada, zilch, and he is turning AMERICA into a fourth world country. Oh my God, please come to our rescue..and soon!!!

D:
DUH

Roger:
You have got to be kidding me! And the liberal media, including Newsweek, bashes anyone who critisizes Islam? Incredible, and incredibly stupid.

Dale:
The modern Presidency certainly is too much for Obama to handle.

Krishta:
He is not god of ANYTHING, BUT, his own stupidity.

obama as God:
